I explained the detail of the disastrous events which had befallen me to the editor in charge.

「….Fu Fu~ 」

A cute laughter echoed through the quiet locker room, unfitting of Yoshizawa-san’s character.

「Hey! What are you laughing at?!…」

「Because! I can’t believe that your stepsister, who’d tell you to die everyday, would try to hypnotize a plain highschool guy like you into falling in love with her. How can I not laugh at this? Pfft…!!」

「Y-you’re not human…!!」

I don’t think I have ever seen Yoshizawa-san laugh so hard before. She doesn’t even crack a smile when she reads my work. Seriously, I want to punch her in the face so bad! 

「It’s the biggest crisis of my life right now! I had to pretend to be hypnotized, my stepsister is a lunatic when it comes to my novels, and I had a double booked day today. The only route left for me to live was to dress up as a girl!」

I said this with a tear in my eye. I know what I’m doing is crazy; but, there was nothing I could do. It couldn’t be normal to fight such an abnormal problem.

「Alright, I understand why you’re dressed as a woman…. In other words, your stepsister, who’s crazy about your novel and thinks she has successfully hypnotized you, is coming to the book autographing session. And you’re trying to survive this somehow by dressing up as a woman, is that correct?」

Yoshizawa-san said, trying to hold back her laughter.

「Simply put, yes」

「Okay then. I’ll cooperate」

「Eh….?」

「I said, I’ll help Ichino-sensei so that your stepsister won’t find out who you really are」

「T-thank you so much!」

「No need to thank me. This seems like such an interesting eve…. No.. Ichino-sensei is in trouble. As your supervisor, I have to help」

Hmm? Did she just say “event?”

「First off… Right… Ichino-sensei, please have a seat on that chair over there」

「O-okay」

Yoshizawa-san made me sit on a old pipe chair.

「Please sit still」

Yoshizawa-san’s face slowly approached me. Her face was well-defined with a determined look.

「Eh..! Wait..! Yoshizawa-san, in this place..!!」

「……What are you talking about, I’m just going to apply some makeup」

「Makeup?」

「Don’t tell me, you were going to attending the autographing session with no makeup on, were you?」

「Of course」

「On the contrary, it seems you are quite strong mentally….」

Yoshizawa-san smeared some kind of slightly sticky water on my face with her hands.

「If I apply some makeup, I can even make a zombie face like Ichino-sense somewhat more attractive, so don’t worry about it」

「Yoshizawa-san, do you have a curse on you where you’ll die if you don’t hurt someone every chance you get?」

She then, out of nowhere,  pulled out her makeup bag and took some mysterious items out.

「A-amazing…!」

My eyes, which would always look decayed, are now large and bright with a double eyelid. My dry lips were now plump and moisturized, and pale skin were now hinted with pink.

In front of the mirror, stood a beautiful girl, no less than Shizuku or Rinko.

「Fu~~ It’s better than I had expected」

「Thank you so much Yoshizawa-san! This way,  Shizuku will never find out!」

「Hold on Ichino-sensei, your voice is a bit too low. It’s kinda ruining the look. Can’t you do something about it?」

「Ah~ wait a minute please… Ahem.. 」

I tried raising my larynx and made a voice.

「Ah..Ah~ H-how about like this?」

「……….. It’s a little annoying, but it’s passable.」

「Thank goodness~」

「It’s time for the autographing session. Come on, let’s go」

「Yes!」

I left the locker room and headed towards the signing venue.

The room was divided into separate sections/areas. In one of the sections, there was  a simple desk and a large banner on the wall that read, “Kataimo Completion Celebration: Autographing session by Ichino Aoto.”

「W-wow, it’s pretty serious/authentic… 」

「Well that’s natural. I had it planned from scratch」

「I’m kinda getting nervous」

「I suppose so. After all, your gender is different right now」

「After all this time, why am I dressing up as a woman for my own big day?」

「No, I don’t want to hear that from you. I’ll beat you up」

「Eh… Ah… Sorry…」

After the brief exchange, I took a seat at the table that was provided for me.

Phew…. Calm down… 

As long as I don’t raise my voice, they won’t know my gender.

The important thing right now is to act normal. I need to keep that in mind and act like a pretty girl until I encounter Shizuku.

「Don’t fret. I’ll be right next to you during the session」

My devilish editor. She’d normally do things that’d hurt me, but seemed to feel sorry for me this time, and gently rubbed my back while saying those kind words.

「Y-yoshizawa-san」

「I mean, it would be such a shame not being able to see such an interesting situation up close」

I take back what I had just said earlier. I knew this woman was a villain. She’s the demon king editor.

「Well, the session’s about to begin. Please make sure you speak up. Oh, and once your stepsister comes over, please kick my leg gently. I’ll follow up with you」

「U-understood」

A staff member at the end of the room received the guidance cue.

Shit…. I’m seriously getting nervous….!!!

Even without putting my hand on my chest, I could hear my heart beating in my ears.

I haven’t ever shown my face until now. And today, for the first time, I’m going to be showing my face (dressed up as a woman) in front of my fans.

Anyways, I can’t lose my composure.

Keep smiling, whisper a thank you to the fans, sign the book, and I’m done!

Despite this irregularity of me cross-dressing, these are the people who have supported my work over the years, and I really need to cherish/take good care them.

To the best of my ability! I must smile and be welcoming/hospitable!

「In that case! Celebrating the completion of Kataimo! Ichino-sensei’s autographing session will now,  begin!」

Amidst the crackling applause, the first fan arrived from beyond the divider.

I cracked a big smile and bowed.

「 Hello! Thank you for coming to my book signing today!」

I said cheerfully, with my voice raised.

Alright! We’re off to a great start!

Cute voice and gestures, I’m definitely a girl right now!

Convinced of this, I raised my head to face my fan.

「Eh……」

In that instant, a shiver went down my spine.

「….O-oh? So Ichino-sensei was a…  girl..?」

Her voice was very familiar.

Her face was also very familiar.

「Y-yep, that’s right~ I’m often mistaken for a boy~」

I replied, trying to keep my expressions intact.

It wasn’t just any fan standing in front of me with my novel and a curious look on her face.

It was my childhood friend who sticks with me 24/7, Rinko.

Why are you at my book signing…?!!!

Fighting the questions that were now running through my brain, I tried my best to maintain my smile on corners of my mouth.
